ELECTRICAL EXCELLENCE

by Evelyn Francisco

Since 1901: Members Have Provided Integral Services at Key Construction Projects

Originally established with exclusive jurisdiction in Hudson County, Local 164 expanded to Bergen County in 1928 and Essex County in June 2000.

Local 164 members have provided highly skilled electrical installations, repairs and maintenance on some of New Jersey’s most significant construction projects: the George Washington Bridge, Lincoln and Holland tunnels, Meadowlands Sports Complex, Garden State Plaza, The Prudential Center
PARAMUS, N.J.

Jan. 08, 2008 – One-hundred six years of electrical excellence was recently celebrated by The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 164, established in 1901 to serve electricians in Hudson County, N.J. From its humble beginnings, the Local has grown to include more than 3,900 electricians active throughout a tri-county region and telecommunications contracted throughout the state.

“We remain deeply committed to Local 164’s original objective, which is to help make life better for our members and those around them,” said Richard Dressel, business manager. “Our focus remains steadfast to promote reasonable work methods and safe jobsites, as well as elevating the moral, intellectual and social conditions in the interest of a higher standard of citizenship.”
